Mike

From June 6 through June 10th, we had out-of-state family come to visit. During the visit, a chair was moved (notice orb near floor at base of table under mirror), a crystal from the chandelier was off again and we saw two different chandeliers swinging at various times.

The above picture is discussed in the next paragraph. On the evening the day our family guests departed (they had left mid-day), I noticed the rabbit had again been moved in the guest room (we had straightened up after they left). I took a picture and upon taking the picture, saw that an orb was visible in the lower left portion of the picture. I immediately shot two more pictures to see if it was present in other shots at the same angle. The second picture showed nothing and the third showed an orb on the right side of the picture.

Upon leaving the guest bedroom, my wife noticed several beads on the chair-rail by the stairs. I stooped down for a closer look at the beads and observed the word “Mike” scratched into the enamel paint. Mike is the name of the guest who stayed in the guestroom along with his wife. I think that perhaps the beads were left to draw our attention to the area in order to see the word “Mike,” which otherwise would have been overlooked. This is not the first time beads have been left below a scratching in paint. On March 7, 2004, several beads were left below the word “play”.

The next day, I noticed that a chair which had been left in the living room the night before had been knocked over.

Tea Party in Guestroom

Things began to start acting up again on June 2, 2005. All of the activity was in the guest room on this date. We went into the room, as we periodically do, and noticed the apparent “tea party,” as pictured above. The chair is normally positioned at the edge of the fireplace (in background of picture) with the rabbit sitting in the chair. The tea cup is normally on the dresser (in background of picture) with the rest of the set, which were in their ordinary position. In addition, a pillow had been removed from the love seat and was on the floor. The overall relation of the “tea party” and pillow are shown here.

After making the discovery in the guest room, I went to get my camera and when I returned, the guest room chandelier was swinging .

Although not worthy of a separate post, the rabbit had been moved out of its chair and placed on the bed in the guestroom on May 22, 2005.

Crystal from Chandelier

Its been a while since I last posted, which is primarily due to the fact that not much had happened until fairly recently. We had been used to things happening several times a week. Then it dropped to one or two things a month. The events were more of the same, nothing really worth posting.

On March 13, 2005, we found that the chair in the guest room had been moved next to the bed.

On March 22, 2005, we noticed that the tea cups on the dresser next to the bed in the guestroom had been moved. The cups are kept on their saucers and the lid of the pot has been removed and placed on the dresser.

The current picture shows a crystal from the chandelier in the foyer, which we found laying on the chessboard in the foyer. The crystals in the chandelier are attached to the chandelier by way of a hook which is inserted through a small wire ring. This is a closeup picture of a ring without the crystal, and is the only area of the chandelier which is missing crystals. This spot is actually missing two crystals. This picture of the chandelier was taken from more of a distance. The area which is missing the crystal is near the center of the picture. This picture is a closeup of the crystal on the chessboard.

On May 5, 2005 more beads were found on the floor in the foyer. We found the beads after having heard what sounded like beads having been dropped on the floor. We also noticed that one of the diningroom chairs had been pulled out from the table.

The final observation to be documented in this post concerns water which was found on the diningroom floor on May 8, 2005. Water on the floor does not seem unusual, except for the fact that water had been found on this section of the floor on each of the two previous days. Of course, everyone in the house denied having spilled water on the floor. The ceiling showed no evidence of a leak. The pattern of water on the floor looked as though a bowl had been placed on the floor upside down and water was dripped on the bowl. In other words, the center had no water and there appeared to be water on the floor around the rough shape of a circle. I took several pictures, but was unable to get the entire circular effect because the light reflection (which shows the water on the floor) was coming from only one direction. This is the best picture.

Mary

This photo was taken January 15, 2005. However, we first noticed the writing on January 5th after we heard some beads hit the floor in the foyer. While looking for the beads, we noticed the word MARY scratched in the paint. The word is about 2 inches long and about 2 feet off the floor. Some of the letter lines in the image are red, which is the color of the paint two layers below. In order to see the image clearer, a reverse image is provided.

As mentioned in an earlier post, this is not the first time words have been scratched into the walls. On March 7, 2004, we discovered the word play scratched into another part of the foyer and a family member's name has also been scratched into the wall twice. A comparison of certain letters is provided. It is a comparison of the most recent writing which said "Mary" directly against prior writing (one which said "Play" and two which depicted the name of a family member. The two letters on the bottom with a grey background were scratched into an enamel paint and are the letters "M" and "A" All other letters were scratched into a flat paint. The "M" and two "A's" in pink came from a family member's name. The "P" in pink is posted to compare to the "R" in Mary. The "X" or "Y" (we believe it is a "Y") in pink is from the word "Play."

December was fairly non-eventful, given the usual activilty in this house. On December 29, 2004 we found the middle candle from a wall candelabra on the living room floor in pieces. Although I took no pictures at the time that is the same candle that came out of the candelabra when my wife and I were decorating the Christmas tree. The first time it came out, I had my back turned to the wall, but my wife was looking at the wall and saw the candle rise out of the candelabra about an inch and then awayfrom the wall aproximately a foot, still perpendicular to the floor and parallel to the wall. At that point, the candle fell to the floor and broke in half. Even though it was broken in half, the wick held it together and I placed it back in the candelabra. About 30 minutes later, we both heard the candle hit the floor, although neither of us saw it fall.

On December 26, 2004, we found a jingle bell in the foyer. Unlike last year on Christmas day, we did not hear it jingle or fall. There were no other jingle bells in the house, other than on the jester's hat, which remained in tact.

Finally, on December 24, 2004, the jester and a candycane from under the Christmas tree were moved away from the tree in the livingroom and placed next to the Ottoman.

Orbs, October 24, 2004

This picture was taken October 24, 2004 in our attic. The picture depicts numerous orbs. Many would say that the orbs in the photograph are caused by reflections of light from the flash back into the camara lens. I honestly don't know. However, given all of the other events which have happened in our home, the presence or orbs is not unexpected.

Earring, September 26, 2004

This picture was taken September 26, 2004 and depicts an old scre back earring which was left in the foyer.

Necklace, September 24, 2004

This picture was taken on September 24, 2004 and depicts another complete old pearl necklace (costume) which was left on the floor in the foyer. The pearls on this necklace are more of a tarnished silver color rather than white.

Foyer, September 6, 2004

This picture was taken September 6, 2004 and depicts the dissaray we found in the foyer. In the picture there are three chairs which have been moved (including one which has been turned over) from their normal positions next to the wall. There is also a ceramic ball on the rug which is kept in the living room.

Broach, August 22, 2004

Necklace, August 22, 2004

This picture was taken August 22, 2004 and reflects a complete old pearl necklace (costume). The necklace is pictured where we found it, on the floor in the foyer. We have previously recieved parts of necklaces and individual beads, but this was the first complete necklace.

Earrings, July 22, 2004

Earring, June 12, 2004

This picture was taken June 12, 2004 and depicts an old earring which was left in the living room.

Beads, March 7, 2004

This picture was taken March 7, 2004 and shows various white beads which were left on a table as well as in the ceramic piano. The lid to the piano is always shut. The larger beads all have holes in them which suggest that they previously had been part of a string of beads. The leaving of beads has been one of the more frequent events. We have often heard the beads hit, bounce and role the wooden floor in the foyer. As soon as we heard the sound, we would go to the foyer and see the beads, as well as (sometimes) other jewelry, which had not been there moments before.

Writing, March 7, 2004

This picture was taken on March 7, 2004 and depicts letters which had been scratched into the paint. The letters "P" and "L" are quite clear. We believe that the word "PLAY" is what was scratched on the wall. There was one prior incident where the name of a member of our family was scratched into a wall. We were going to repaint that area of the house within a couple of weeks and were not upset over the writing. Since we repainted, there have been no further scratchings in the paint.

December 25, 2003

This picture was taken Christmas morning 2003. When we got up, the carousel had been turned on and was running, along with a second carousel (not pictured). The only explanation, other than paranormal activity, was that Santa had come during the night.

Jewelry Cashe, November 2, 2003

This picture was taken November 2, 1003 and depicts the content of a jewelry box. The only items we place in the jewelry box are the items which have been apported into our home. The jewelry box currently has much more in it and will be shown in a subsequent post.

November 1, 2003

This picture was taken November 1, 2003 and depicts movement of the pawns on the chess board. Absent movement, the chess pieces are kept in their starting positions.

Orb, December 12, 2003

This picture was taken December 12, 2003 and depicts an orb next to the Christmas tree in the upper right. The tree is slumping in the corner, not as the result of paranormal activity, but rather a poor stand.

December 12, 2003

This picture was taken December 12, 2003 in the living room. Neither the jester, the cat, nor the book belong where they have been placed. All three objects are kept in the room, but have been moved. It appears as though the jester is reading "The Night Before Christmas" to the cat.

This picture was taken September 5, 2003 and depicts a broach in the shape of an old key. The broach was found on the floor in the foyer.

Orbs, June 2003

This picture was taken in June 2003 and reflects several significant events. First, there are two orbs in the picture. One is on the top-right side of the coffee table and the other is in front of the yellow chair's right front leg. This was the first picture in which orbs were visible. Other items of note are that the pillow on the foot stool is normally in the yellow chair and there is a rose on the white cloth on the coffee table. There was a bouquet of roses in the next room.

February 17, 2003

This picture was taken February 17, 2003 in the guest room. The comforter is normally flat and the pillows at the head of the bed are neatly in order. On this day, we observed what appeared to be an indentation in the comforter as if a body had been lying on top of the comforter. There was also an indentation in the larger pillow between the two throw pillows, which are out of line, as though a head had been laying on the pillow. We smelled the indentations and detected the light scent of perfume, which quickly dissipated. This event has only happened a few times.

February 13, 2003

This photos was taken on February 13, 2003. On the top shelf of the left side of the page, there are two goblets which have been turned upside down. There are also two goblets which have been turned upside down on the second self on the right side of the picture. Turning goblets and coffee cups upside down was initially the most common event. It does not happen any more.

Birthday Greeting, February 1, 2003

This photo was taken on the moring of February 1, 2003, the morning after my wife's birthday. Again, two of the chairs are pulled out from the table. There is a picture of my wife and I on the table along with a rose. Neither was on the table the evening before. The picture had been in the next room and the rose was part of a bouquet which was on the other side of the room.

December 22, 2002

This photo was taken December 22, 2002 and shows that both chairs were pulled out from the table. Additionally, there is homemade candle on the table between the chairs which had not previously been on the table.

November 11, 2002

This is one of the earliest photos and was taken on November 11, 2002. The chair has been pulled out from the table. This was one of the most frequent events that took place. It still happens, but not with as much frequency.

About This Site

The purpose of this blog is to document and discuss unexplained activities in our home. We live in a 100+ year-old home in a small town in South Carolina. Shortly after we moved in, we began to notice various unexplainable events. The types of events include, but are not limited to: strange smells, music, voices, footsteps, movement of furniture and other items, door slamming, swinging chandeliers, writings, and apportation (materializing out of "thin air") of old costume jewelry. The majority of pictures which will be posted to this sight show events which have already happened, i.e. items which have been moved and jewelry which has been left behind. We recognize that photos of past events to not prove, other than to ourselves, that these events actually happened. Sceptics will say the photos were "staged;" they were not. We have been taking pictures for over two years in order to assist us in recalling all the events which have occurred in our home. We cannot explain these events and are open to any reasonable explanation. We invite site visitors to ask questions and offer comments on our postings. We do not believe that we are the only people who have had such events take place in their home and would encourage others who have experienced unexplainable phenomena to share their experiences with us. While some people may view the events which have happenned in our home as "scary," or the result of "evil spirits," we have never felt, or observed anything negative, harmful, or evil. The initial postings on this site will set forth photographs of events which have occurred in our home over the past couple of years. Once the site is current, it will depict recent events. Please enjoy our site and share it with anyone interested in such things.
